What To Avoid When Buying A Tent
When buying a tent, there are certain features that you should avoid. Below
you will find a partial list of these features that you should avoid when buying
a camping tent.
- Solid fiberglass poles - you will find these poles in cheaply
made tents that you will find in discount stores. These poles will break or
shatter very quickly.
- Footprint - not all camping sites provide large areas for
your tent, so make sure that the footprint your tent makes is a reasonable
size.
- Wall Angle - sharply angled walls provide more stability,
but also reduce the amount of usable space on the inside of the tent.
- Metal Zippers - avoid these at all costs
- Staking Out - avoid tents that require full staking out
to set up. Certain surfaces (sand, rocks, snow) will not allow this.
- Size - camping is supposed to be fun, so make sure you
get a tent that is large enough to be comfortable
