It was time to upgrade from the older KrumKake maker (that you had to put over a burner and guess when they were done), to a new electric one where the guesswork was taken care of! I love this product! It makes beautiful KrumKakes!

I've never eaten an authentic Krum Kake, so I can't tell you how close these are. I actually wanted this device to make ice cream cones in the summer. I looked at the models designed for making waffle cones and decided that the design on this one was much prettier, and the size was going to be fine for standard ice cream cones. I made one batch of cookies, and they came out amazingly well. Later, I made a quadruple batch for a potluck party. They were a big hit, and it was a riot customizing the fortunes to fit the party theme. After a while, I figured out that watching the lights to time the cooking wasn't necessary. As long as I was close by, I could hear the process as the cookies released steam, bubbled, and finally settled down, so I could do other little things in the kitchen while I waited for the cooking. While I didn't get cookies that were all browned to exactly the same color, I found that they all tasted good. And a little variation made it even more obvious they were home made. Overall, I really like the device. The only thing I could wish for would be removable plates so that I could vary the designs, but no one seems to make anything like that.

I love this piece of equipment and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good-looking and tasting ice-cream cone. The instructions that came with it were perfect and it doesn't take too long to figure out how to make them. It is easy to clean too!
